Rohan listens intently as Kakyoin opens up to him about the trauma he has been trying to grapple with for more than a decade.

Kakyoin's encounter with Dio has haunted him ever since it happened for a number of reasons. One that he has largely kept to himself out of shame is what Dio did to him while he was freshly under the influence of the fleshbud. The memory, which frequently appears in some way, shape, or form in his nightmares, utterly sickens him and brings with it intense feelings of humiliation and self-loathing. He didn't get a chance to fight him off. He wasn't even capable of refusing him. He curses himself for allowing his loneliness to make him give himself over to Dio's control so easily in the first place.

And what only serves to compound the issue is... Dio didn't actually physically hurt him. He seemed to be actively making sure not to hurt him, in fact. Yet every fibre of Kakyoin's being screams aghast at the memory, insisting it was wholly uninvited and unwanted.

All of this leaves Kakyoin confused and frustrated, torn between the nagging thought that he is making a big to-do out of nothing and the knowledge that what happened to him has left upon his spirit a festering wound.
